Where the work is in Ticino

Lugano holds most of the banks, fiduciaries, law firms, IT companies and trade. The Mendrisiotto, with Mendrisio, Chiasso and Stabio, has a dense mix of fashion, pharmaceuticals, logistics and manufacturing. Bellinzona, the cantonal capital, offers posts in public administration, healthcare and transport, while Locarno and Ascona depend largely on tourism and restaurants, with many seasonal jobs from spring to autumn.

Working in Ticino as a frontaliere

A large share of Ticino's workforce commutes from Lombardy and Piedmont. Anyone who lives in Italy and works in Switzerland needs a G permit for cross-border commuters, which is tied to a Swiss employment contract and requires returning home at least once a week. For a short commute, search on a border town such as Chiasso or Stabio.

Applying

A Ticino application usually includes a CV, a cover letter, reference letters (certificati di lavoro) from previous employers and copies of diplomas, such as a federal VET certificate (AFC). Someone changing jobs from an existing contract has to count in the notice period, which the Code of Obligations sets at one month in the first year of service, two months up to the ninth year and three months after that, unless the contract agrees otherwise. The thirteenth salary is common in Ticino but not a legal right, so an annual figure and a monthly one in an ad are not always comparable.

Most ads are in Italian, some national companies post in German, and the ad-language filter keeps one or the other. A saved search mails new matches.
